Depuis près de 50 ans, Jean-François Larrieu, artiste aujourd’hui internationalement reconnu, (d)écrit à travers son œuvre picturale une histoire universelle, à la fois humaniste et environnementale : une histoire de Vies. Dans son œuvre, Larrieu rend hommage à la nature et à toutes les formes de vies qu’elle contient. Son mode de création s’apparente à une symbiose avec la nature ; comme elle, sa peinture est composée d’une multitude d’éléments et d’énergies que l’on retrouve dans chacune de nos cellules, dans la totalité du monde.
La peinture de Larrieu, à la fois singulière et universelle, combine maturité et innocence, joue avec les couleurs chaudes et chatoyantes, foisonne de détails qui loin de troubler l’œil du spectateur forment au contraire un tout, une « évidence ». Cette peinture si personnelle et onirique, Larrieu l’utilise pour transmettre un message humaniste et environnemental. La faune (naturelle et urbaine) et la flore font partie d'un même et seul univers, où chaque entité a sa place.
Larrieu souligne ainsi la richesse de la nature et l’émotion pure qu’elle peut nous procurer. Et ce, dans une volonté de faire entendre à l’Homme, élément constitutif du génome de la Planète, qu'il a un rôle majeur à jouer dans sa sauvegarde.

Le style Larrieu vogue de l’abstraction de l’infiniment petit à la figuration de l’infiniment grand. La toile n’est alors plus que support, l’œuvre a besoin de s’extraire du « cadre » comme l’Art doit s’extraire des « murs ». En portant son œuvre sur de multiples supports, qu’ils soient physiques ou numériques, Larrieu entend partager ce message optimiste que la beauté est partout autour de nous et que l’on se doit de s'en émerveiller pour la préserver.
For nearly fifty years, Jean-François Larrieu – artist now internationally recognised – had narrated through his pictorial work a universal story, both humanistic and friendly to the Environment: a story of Lives.
Through his body of work, Larrieu pays homage to Nature and all its life forms. His creative process evokes a symbiosis with Nature. Like Nature, his paintings consist of a multitude of elements and energies that can be found throughout the world, in each and everyone of our cells.
Larrieu’s painting work, both singular and universal, combines maturity and innocence, playfully combines warm, shimmering colours and overflows with details which far from disturbing the spectator’s eye aggregate into a whole, an incontrovertible evidence. Through his art so personal and dreamlike, Larrieu communicates a humanistic and environmental message. The fauna (natural as well as urban) and the flora are part of a whole, a universe where each entity takes its place. Larrieu underlines Nature’s richness and the pure emotion that it is capable of triggering in us. He does so in order to help mankind realise that we are only one part of the Earth’s genome and that we have an essential role to play in its safeguarding.
His pictorial and intellectual freedom cannot be restricted to the canvas and today Larrieu expresses his message and his ‘words’ through a variety of media. The Larrieu style flows from the abstraction of the infinitely small to the figurativeness of the infinitely large. The canvas is then no longer but a support; the work needs to break away from the ‘frame’ in the exact same way as Art must break away from the ‘walls’. By taking his work onto multiple supports, physical or digital, Larrieu spreads the optimistic message that beauty is everywhere around us and that we must revere it in order to preserve it.
Larrieu sees Art as a true vector of humanistic, environmental and universal values. This explains his desire to make his work and his message accessible to all by varying media and art forms in order to broadcast more widely his passion for Life, his emotion in front of the Beautiful and his vision for Sharing.
